Flute Classes |
|
This is the actual flute used in
the flute class, that each student will keep following the end of the
class |
|

Flute Class Costs:
50.00 per
person with unfinished flute
60.00 per
person with finished flute
|
-
Flute classes are available for groups or students as both an
educational experience and as a fundraising experience. This class
has been presented to adults and children above the age of 8, with
tremendous results!
-
Classes have been taught in Sweden, India, Spain, England,
Canada, Finland, and all over the United States. The cost for the
class is nominal, and presenters of the class may charge as they
wish in order to cover costs of the classes and transportation,
lodging, etc for Douglas.
-
Participants in the flute class will learn:
- Basic fingering and scales
- Breathing techniques
- Overblow techniques
- A complete traditional song start to finish. Students will also
receive a sheet music/tablature copy of the song they learn.
-
Class
length is approximately 2-4 hours. (depending
on # of students)
-
Must
be limited to not more than 50 participants per class. (Each
student receives individual time with instructor)
-
Students
MUST use flutes provided by presenter/instructor. These
flutes are all in the same key and closely pitched. If even one flute
is tuned differently than the other 49 flutes in the class, the
resulting sound is similar to fingernails on a chalkboard!
-
Flutes
included in the educational package are UNFINISHED. This means they
are playable, but not visually beautiful. Part of the fun in the class
is recognizing that each person may finish their flute's appearance to
their own liking.

special opportunity education.
|
An additional
means of funding the presentation of this class is to have a solo
concert with Douglas in the evening of the class. Sometimes Douglas will
have the flute class participants perform with him as well.
Presenters/Educators
are responsible for all costs related to Douglas travel, lodging, and meals, and
a small perdiem/honorarium.*
(Native American institutions please inquire about this as rez schools have a
slightly different arrangement) |
