Remember, a beautiful life is merely prayer in motion, and a world without prayer has no center to it.  God bless us all.

So, here we are at the end of an era, a century, a millenium, a decade, a season, a year. What does it really mean? Heck if I know. In the Native calendar of 13 months, or moons, this isn't much at all anyway.
But I felt that at the century's end, I should write something somehow prolific, meaningful, deep and thoughtful.

And could think of nothing.

Because it's amazing that we are here at all. All of us. And so what could I intelligently comment on?
With the daily challenges that we each face, and the struggles that seem to go on universally, why are we still breathing? Why are we still moving on? Not just as indigenous Peoples, not just as anyone, but as human beings?
Because of hope, I think. Because we each enjoy little sweetnesses in our lives, because we each have hopes for a better tomorrow.
Does this mean that if today was great, it should be considered unusual? Nope. I think we just hope for the best, and prepare for the worst, in most of our scenarios. That's why we have insurance, that's why we buy a few days worth of food, that's why we carry an extra Band-Aid in our wallets.
What? You don't carry an extra Band-Aid in your wallet? Perhaps you should, because you never know when I might fall and skin my knee, and you might just be right there to help me. Or at least I hope you will.
I'm going to log off now, it's nearly midnight, and I don't want to have my computer blow up in my face. Y2K? Why 2 Kare? Because I have hope that tomorrow, the lights will still come on, the heater will still work, and the world will be much the same. And if it's not, send up a signal balloon, I'll do my best to come help you. And I hope you'll do the same. And even if the world turns out alright, and I think it will, at least we are each better people for having looked out for one another. And I guess I did have something to say after all.......

Happy New Century, Everyone. Thank you for 11 years of wonderful support, friendship, and listening.
